Ok, so I turn 30 this year. (Imagination gap.) Mid-life crisis or whatever you wanna put it down to, I need to get back out there and have some random fun! Some of the best memories of my life are from my various travels or experiences abroad. It will also aid me on my life long quest to visit as many countries as I am years old. By the time I get back I shall be very much on track.
So, after a 3 month voluntary working experience through Africa was cancelled due to the political situation in Zimbabwe, my dissapointed but ever forwad thinking and hopeful mind turned to the pure hedonism and white beaches of Thailand. Co-incidently my friend Lauren (who I had hung out with at an adventure camp we had both helped lead for the past couple of years) mentioned she was going travelling there and the seed was firmly planted. Faffing about and procrastinating ensued, (all because of the odd acting job that may or may not transpire), but I finally bit the bullet and booked my flight with just 3 weeks to go! - in which time I had to renew passport, get the necessary vaccinations, visa(s), move out of my house and do my tax self-assessment. Oh, on top of working full time of course. Well, I never to things by halves....!
Sifting through the logistics of visas on various travel sites I finally realised I did in fact need a tourist visa and quickly got the ball rolling. Literally the day after my visa was returned to me (by 'special delivery' on top of the recorded delivery to get there making the whole cost 35 quid - ouch!) - the government decided to waive visa fees for the next three months! Good for my brother Ed who may be joining me but, - what a WASTE of money! Telling myself, C'est la vie..! doesn't quite work.
So now I'm trying to read up everything there is to know about Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia...in addition to all of the aforementioned tasks, leaving me to write on my facebook page 'Carla is wishing time would fast forward and stand still all at once'......
