Thurs 4th Feb - Leaving England.

Thurs 4th Feb

On the way to the airport

Well, I'm on the M4 batting through the dark, early hours and slushy roads to leave the snow behind (isnt it ironic - the one time is properly snows I come down with a stinking cold and have to leave the country - I'm sure you all feel sorry for me. But I still feel slighty put out I didnt get the chance to look out the green bottom-sized spoon sledge I bought on my first visit to the ski slopes as a 13 year old.

I have that sore eyed, not-really-slept type feeling, knowing its probably only the first of 3 consecutive nights of disruption so accept it and get over it Carla! My friends gave me their address of where they are staying which helps - didn't really want to arrive in Bankok tired and grumpy not having a clue where to go.

Have to say right now, I'm not quite in the mood for a manic full moon party with 10,000 others. But maybe after a couple of days relaxing in the sun, I'll feel a whole different person...

On the plane

Had a bit of a scare with traffic on the M4 but got there in good time really I hate hanging arounf too much. I was pretty much the last to check in. As soon as I got on the plane I got chatting to Johno, a friendly guy also on his way to Bankok before going kite surfing in the Phillipines.
The flights were excellent value given I had only spent 408 on my return ticket. I wonder if my flight was more or less than my friends by leaving it 3 weeks to go. I watched no less than 3 new release films, and had 3 hot meals which were fairly decent. I was introduced to the Thai concept of eating curry for breakfast. Three meals later though, of a combination of meat / curries my tummy had had enough!

Looking down at patches of snow leaving London was an unusual view of England from a plane. Full of excitement and snap happy and I really wanted to capture the fluffiness of the clouds, but sometimes cameras just dont do things justice or maybe I am just sad and need to be slightly more discerning at what makes a good photo ;)
